What I Believe

By Finace Smith

The Godhead:

I believe there is only one, true, living God. He is the Creator and Supreme Ruler of Heaven and Earth. He is expressed in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Ghost, equal in every divine perfection.
Ex. 15:11, Ps. 83:18, Matt. 28:19, John 4:24, John 10:30, Mark 12:30, Eph 2:18

The Scriptures:
I believe the Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is Divinely inspired. It is infallible, inerrant, and is the only true revelation to man. Other books are useful in understanding God's word, but they are so only if they agree with the scriptures.
Is. 8:20, I Thess. 5:21, II Peter 3:16-17, II Peter 1:20-21

The Fall of Man:
I believe that God created man perfect, but He gave man a free will. Through the man, Adam, and his wife, Eve, mankind sinned and fell. Because of this, all mankind is born innately sinful and is separated from God. Man does not sin because of Satan's temptations, but because man himself is a sinner.
Gen 1:27, Gen. 1:31, Gen. 3:6-24, Rom. 1:20, ROm. 5:12, Rom. 5:19

I believe that God provided a way of reconciliation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus was born of a virgin. He died a substitutionary death on the cross fulfilling God's plan for the blood covenant and blood atonement. Jesus had a bodily resurreciton after three days. Salvation of sinners is wholely of grace, through faith in the finished work of the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It is God's will that all mankind come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. A person who does not receive God's free gift of salvation will spend eternity separated from God.
Is. 53:4-5, Col. 2:9. John 3:16, Eph. 2:8, Heb. 2:18, Heb. 7:25, Luke 16:19-31, Rev. 20:11-15

Second Coming and Evangelism:
I believe in the imminent bodily return of Jesus Christ. With knowledge of this and the brevity of life, there is an urgency to spread the gospel. I believe the Great Commmision commands the furthrance of the gospel using God-given talents and gifts with zeal.
I Pet. 4-7, Acts 1:11, I Thess. 4:13-18, Acts 24:15, Matt. 24:31-46, Rev. 22:11, Matt. 28:19-20, Mark 15:15-18
